Watch other people's videos of this exercise to see how many of them are involving their shoulders in this triceps exercise. It's a triceps exercise, NOT a shoulder exercise: keep all other muscles out of the equation. Choose a weight that your triceps can move without any help from adjoining muscle groups.

Resting your back against the pad makes you have to focus on your tri's more and your delts less. Thought it was just me.
