The Solar Dynamics Observatory is designed to help us understand the Sun's influence on Earth and Near-Earth space by studying the solar atmosphere on small scales of space and time and in many wavelengths simultaneously. Dean Pesnell, the SDO Project Scientist, explains the science that will be done using NASA's SDO spacecraft.

  • pretty much... nothing.... 2012 is a like a random date like many many other ends of the world, when nothing happened, and as soon as they pass people forget and look up the next date and there will be many more dates... dude, focus on real issues, true science is dozens of times better than those fairy tales

  • Then stop drawing prominences on the invisible magnetic waves.  We should be able to see much more by making that simple change. It's hard to get away from old hiding tricks, isn't it?

    PS: there were no waves being drawn on the Sun in 1953 when Kuiper published, 'The Sun,'
