明代湯顯祖的《牡丹亭》是中國戲曲的精品，描寫杜麗娘為追求愛情而死，又再為此而復生的傳奇故事。
著名作家白先勇教授為這個浪漫愛情故事注入新生命，起用兩岸三地與劇中人物年紀相約的年輕藝術演員參演青春版《牡丹亭》，把原為五十五齣的標目濃縮為二十七齣，加入現代舞­台的藝術元素，深深吸引着新一代觀眾，讓他們體驗中國文化藝術之美。

Tang Xianzus The Peony Pavilion from the Ming Dynasty is an epitome of Chinese opera. It sells the mystical story of Du Liniang dying for her love, and of her coming back to life.

While modern stagecraft and techniques as well as artistic elements are added. These new features attract a new generation of audience and introduce them to the experience of Chinese cultural art forms.
Dream of Love－Interrupted Dream
Upon return to her chamber, she dreams of meeting the scholar Liu Mengmei at the Peony Pavilion. They fall in love in her dream.
The young female lead sings in melismatic, haunting melodies.
