  • It isn't. But as you may already know, obesity is a high risk factor for Type 2 Diabetes. Sulphonylureas cause hypoglycemia and weight gain. If someone is already diabetic, this may cause an increase in hypertension, a decrease in sensitivity of cells to insulin, increased plaque formation and eventually lead to kidney damage. That's why some of the newer drugs that cause weight loss are now preferred.

  • pretty sure weight gain isn't the primary concern of diabetics...
