These good social works should be done despite your religious convictions. Yet one fails to understand that Mormons are good people not because of their faith but because of general good will that non-mormons also have. But I do find their doctrine, faith, history to be morally repugnant and aberrant and disgusting.

Church Gives Aid to Disaster Victims

An earthquake and powerful tsunami hit the islands of Samoa, American Samoa and Tonga in September. Villages were wiped out, nearly 200 people lost their lives and many thousands were homeless. Within hours, the Church began assessing the islanders needs. Seven days later a DC-10 left Utah for the South Pacific with 60 tons of food, hygiene kits, clothing, wheelchairs and water containers.

The quest to become more like our Lord and Savior — to be more spiritually attentive, more personally sensitive, more tender and gracious — ought to be the righteous desire of every Latter-day Saint. What, then, can I do?

President David O. McKay taught: "No man can sincerely resolve to apply to his daily life the teachings of Jesus of Nazareth without sensing a change in his own nature." To choose Christ is to choose to be changed. Indeed, the glorious message of the gospel of Jesus Christ is that we can be better than we are, that we can change.
