True Story in 1901 Pittsburgh. Mrs. Soffel (Keaton) is a Mother of three and the warden's wife. While reading passages and handing out bibles to the prisoner's, she comes across deathrow inmates (Mel Gibson) and his Brother (Matthew Modine). What must have been shocking, even by today's standards, she falls in love with one of the inmates and helps both escape, ending up going with them. To TV's "Lost" fans, John Locke (Terry O'Quinn)is hot on the escapee's trail as Detective Buck McGovern. With a spoiler ending and quite long, I wouldn't exactly call it a trailer, so I'll call it a trailer-like micro movie.
Music is a mix of the original soundtrack to this movie, from Mark Isham's Film Music, Windham Hill Records, CD.
Original length movie version directed by Gillian Armstrong

I just bought the Windham Hill issue on CD from Amazon. I owned the Vinyl and I feel so blessed to get it on CD for half the price I paid for the vinyl!

Soulful and haunting. I cling onto it when I need to reflect.

I still have the Vinyl and the deep memories associated with this beautiful music. No person, no place or time, just an excursion into those you recall and remember the most while absorbing it. There is a God, and there must be a heaven. This is what I want to hear if and when I ever cross over. Thank you Isham.

What is sacred is the love that does not measure consequences. And love does not care about the risks. Perfect!

A friend gave me a copy of some songs on an unlabeled tape that had this song on it way back in the 80's.
It haunted me for years until I finally tracked it down.
The beauty of each note just carried me way past whatever movie it had been composed for.
(I liked the movie.)
Mr. Isham just ain't normal... he is way out there... and beyond!

The Soundtrack was edited by Windham Hill Records:
Catalog Nr. WH-1041
Album: Film Music - Mark Isham [1985] Music From "Mrs. Soffel"/Music From "The Times Of Harvey Milk"/Music From "Never Cry Wolf"

Yes, the music in this video is from that album, but only parts of "Mrs. Soffel" is heard, here. Also, not in the order, that it plays on the album. (Just in case someone has this album and thinks there's another version. There's not, not that I know of, anyway.)

I'm lucky to still own this Mark Isham soundtrack, on it there's Mrs. Soffel
(13:59). 2. The Times of Harvey Milk
(08:32). (the just did a new film about him... and 3. Never Cry Wolf (24:48).
released i 1984 by Windham Hill. get it if you ever see it, it's out-of-print and will probably never be re-issued :-(

I'm lucky enough to still have that cd, too, but I've never visited the Allegheny County Courthouse/jail?
I have researched the story quite a bit and must confess I wish I hadn't. I like this version better, though some of the details of the actual character's and chain of events is even more incredible in many ways.
