Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) is a minimally-invasive hair transplant procedure performed by Dr. Bauman. Dr. Bauman designed the first commercially-available instrument specifically for physicians who perform the FUE procedure years before NeoGraft became available. Visit http://www.baumanmedical.com for more info. Dr. Bauman now offers FUE with NeoGraft. The NeoGraft device makes the FUE procedure faster and more efficient--harvesting more hair per procedure than before.

  • How long does it take for the hair to grow normally?

  • @badmuthasuka Patience is required when waiting for hair transplant results. It takes about 6-12 weeks for the hair to start to grow from the hair transplant. At 6 months, 50% of the results are visible (a good time to take some preliminary 'before and after' pics, and it takes 12 months to see 90% of the result. It seems that using PRP for wound healing is helping the transplanted grafts begin to grow hair a little sooner than expected.

  • @alber12111 Thank you for your question. Hair transplant procedures yielding over 3,000 grafts are now regularly performed with the NeoGraft device. Usually, this type of procedure would be done over the course of two days (back to back). A single-day NeoGraft/FUE session typically yields about 1500 grafts. There are, however, many variables that can affect the yield. --Dr. B.

  • What about the massive increase in cost? I think that anything over $25k for a NW7 complete restoration would be very expensive. I dont think the increase in cost makes it worth it. Got a friend that was a NW6 and now hes a NW1, and this is all from FUE. He does have an average of 110 per sq cm in the donor though.

  • @0biW8n In general, I would agree that doing things 'faster' may not be a good thing. However, with NeoGraft, not only is the harvesting more efficient, but the QUALITY of the grafts are also improved from manual FUE--at least in our seven-year experience with that technique. The average number of hair follicles per graft has increased steadily. Quality is our main concern and, of course, we'll take our time if we need to to get it right. Glad to hear your FUE procedure went well. --Dr. B.

  • Also, I dont think moving more grafts faster is a good thing, a good thing is to take your time, I was in the chair for 12 hours with my latest procedure of 1544 grafts via fue and thats because they took thier time so I would get a good job.

  • will the spots where the hair is removed grow back or is that area (donor area) not going to regrow the hair?

  • Yes, thank you for your question, this procedure (which is now done with the NeoGraft device) can yield upwards of 1900 grafts in what we consider a 'reasonable' amount of time--in other words, similar to a linear harvest.

  • How much does this procedure cost for a small amount of hair

  • Yes, FUE hair transplant is IDEAL for covering small scars in the scalp or eyebrow area. --Dr. B.
