There are two, W McBride and William McBride, who died in France in 1916, both of the Inniskillen Fusiliers, part of the 36 Ulster Division. Neither were 19, but this is a song to the many who died an early death. Stewart's voice brings me out in goosebumps.

No problem. Please check out some of Eric Bogle's CDs. He has written some terrific anti war somngs over the years - this one is the best of them but there are others.

Sorry to be pedantic but this great song is NOT called "Willie McBride" or "Green Fields of France". It is called "No Man's Land". So says the man who wrote it - Eric Bogle. And Eric is a Scot, now living in Australia. So it is not an "Irish folk song" - as is claimed by the singer here. Sorry, but it's as well to get these things right. :)

Thanks for the history. I did not actually know this...
My apologies for not getting it right in the info. It's great you have added to my knowledge of decent history - especialy in music.
Keep up the good work!
