Strathclyde Mechanical Engineering student project, 2007.
To build a human-powered water pump that could be used to irrigate farm land.
They used two cylinders, they should have gone for three which would have made it much easier to work.

  • nice

  • Why go through all that trouble linking chains this or that - you could have done this with a simple pump operated by hand. - And it would yield much more output (water)

  • @kitsurubami Your could build a bellows and attach a bike to that to force air into a pit but you might want to convert the wood to charcoal you can use wood iv used it before but takes forever.

  • very cool. i would like to craft a bike powered wood furnace some day to smelt various metals. i'm no engineer though. ahhahaha

  • Nice work, love it.

  • Word !

  • @normellow It needs longer push-rods, . . .

  • ya need a 45 pound fly wheel on it

  • dude take the galon and walk upstairs

  • it works fine, but this has to work as a continuous pedaling, I feel it stops in few location while pedaling. however good try.
