Bill is a retired Marine whose son Scott was shot and killed in 1997. Bill shares his heartbreaking story of a son lost, yet hope gained as part of the first installment of our "30 Days, 30 Stories" project to highlight those whose lives have been affected by organ and tissue donation directly.
April is National Donate Life Month. Make the decision to register to be an organ and tissue donor either at the DMV whenever you obtain or renew your driver's license. Or do it online right now at www.beadonor.org/register.
Hi Bill, I too did the same as you. Same type of situation also. God bless you and your kind act in the time that you're going through. Take care, Lee from Massachusetts.

What a wonderful act of kindness, Bill. As Scott and I share the same birth day, I will ALWAYS think of him and his ultimate give of LOVE. As has been said before, THANK YOU for sharing you story...AND Scotts!

Bill - Thank you for sharing your story. There is not a day that goes by that I don't think about the deceased, anonymous kidney donor who gave my little daughter her life back. Scot lives on in people like my daughter through your selfless act. May Scott's memory be forever blessed.
