THEATER HISTORY: Founding Producer Mark Wilson had the privilege and thrill of casting MARIE WALLACE in his 1996 production of ARSENIC & OLD LACE. What a hoot!

(Click the "HQ" button for better quality on YouTube.)

Marie was a regular cast member of the legendary ABC series DARK SHADOWS, which revolutionized daytime drama in the late 1960's, back when there were still Marx Toy commercials in black and white.

Here's a great example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LVZiLQ_21fU
But wait - there's more! ...

This 13 year old VHS archival tape you're watching now shows the camped-up commercial spot created by Mark on zero budget as usual, for local cable television, back in the day when everybody didn't have high-def cameras and home studio.

In the Blue Ridge Mountains of the 1990s, it was a struggle to find someone who actually had, and could operate the linear tape equipment.

No time, no money. Sell tickets - Get people in seats!

At this point in the summer theater's history, innovation meant budgeting focused on large fully professional union castings annually from the best of New York, and the cream of North Carolina's resident professional talent.

The cast of this classic play included four of Mark's all-time favorites: LJ GANSER, ALLEN LEWIS RICKMAN, and arguably the "first couple" of this theater, DUKE ERNSBERGER & MARY LUCY BIVINS. Between Duke & Mary Lucy combined must have been 15 roles cast over 12 years.

MARIE WALLACE is one of the most beautiful and graceful women ever met, and through her, Mark met Barnabas (Jonathan Frid) and Louis Edmunds of the great house of Collinwood.

...A soft fog of garlic spilled out onto the sidewalk, enveloping the four as they made their way up into the second-floor French restaurant in SOHO...

But that's another story!
Online soon.
