Here's a doll's house of Lourie the artist,
Who's into gloomy stories.

A little girl is walking down the path,
Her thin legs are sticking out of her dress,
Tears are dropping from her eyes.
She's scared and wants to get home.

Packs of maniacs nest in the bushes
Waiting for food with their umbrellas.
They're hungry because it's dinner time
That's why they need someone fat.

Here's a deserted crypt on the way
And it's impossible to find the girl there.
Those two were trying to hide here as well
So both were staying in the grave forever.

Вот кукольный домик художницы Лори,

Которая любит мрачные стори¹.

Вот девочка чешет в лесу по дорожке,

Из платья торчат её тонкие ножки.

Идёт и роняет слезу за слезой:

Ей страшно, и девочка хочет домой.

Вот стаи маньяков гнездятся в кустах,

Еду поджидая с зонтами в руках.

Они хочут² кушать, и близится ужин,

Поэтому кто-нибудь толстый им нужен.

Вот всеми заброшенный склеп на пути,

Девочку здесь ни за что не найти.

Эти тут прятаться тоже пытались —

В яме могильной так и остались.

¹ от английского "story", в смысле — рассказы, истории;

² это грамматическая шутка, всё стихотворение такое. :)

Прошу прощения за то, что слова оказались неразборчивы, самому это сложно определить, поэтому благодарю за то, что задали вопрос. Не стоит относиться к тексту с такой серьёзностью, его произносит маленькая запуганная девочка, у которой богатое воображение.

О! я безмерно рада, что кто-то проявил интерес к моей работе и взял на себя труд перевести текст. Большое спасибо! Изначально задумывалась некая детская страшилка, иллюстрированная работами Лори Липтон. Собственно, они меня и вдохновили. :)
