  • Hey Musialaviator, Is it easy to see The Runways Aircraft etc. Without at Video Camera or Camera. I am going there on Sunday. But had second thoughts because i dident know if i would be able to see much without Camera and Video camera

    Cheers scotty :)

  • Yep fine for just looking... long walk though :P

Check out rwy34*com/spotting/ and click "With Car"

Took me about 20 minutes to get to the top of the hill. You should keep walking until you are "AT" the radar dish rotating. Also go the long way around the Aboriginal Memorial ground thing but keep it off to your left. bandicoot fence to your right. There's a clearing where you can see aircraft through trees, but keep walking up to the very top to get the good view. Also check for little gate.

  • Its an Awsome viewing area i love it.. I go there a lot. And i have the UBC93XLT. I wonder why you cant hear Essendon Odd .... Anyway Great video mate.. Cheers

  • If we'd walked through the fence and up near the radar I'm sure we could have gotten Essendon. but we were forward a bit closer to the "bandicoot" fence and the peak of the hill was behind us (well between us and EN) Could hear EN tower, but not ATIS :P which was a bit odd. but there ya go)

  • YO! So Are Bandicoots Dangerous and is it likey to see one... Oh And how steep is the hill is it Like just a slight elevation....

    Cheers

  • Uniden Bearcat 120 with 100 channels. Range is less important than Line-of-Sight. If you are in a valley 5 miles from a transmitter but 'behind' a hill, then you will hear lots of static, or nothing at all. 50 something miles away but up high with no terrain between, clear fine. For instance on top of the hill there we could get Avalon (a good hour plus away by car) and even Avalon ground movements. however we couldn't hear Essendon, (about 15 mins drive away) as it was behind the hill from us

  • What type do you have?, whats its range?

  • ATC on a scanner.

  • Great job! Nicely filmed. How did you get the ATC? Great view as well. Loved the 747, beautiful!

  • Very nice video !!
