"We cannot fail to be concerned that today, with increasing insistency, some maintain that religion fails in its claim to be, by nature, a builder of unity and harmony, an expression of communion between persons and with God.

The contradiction of tensions and divisions between the followers of different religious traditions, sadly, cannot be denied. However, is it not also the case that often it is the ideological manipulation of religion, sometimes for political ends, that is the real catalyst for tension and division, and at times even violence in society?

We are reminded that because it is our common human dignity which gives rise to universal human rights, they hold equally for every man and woman, irrespective of his or her religious, social or ethnic group. In this regard, we must note that the right of religious freedom extends beyond the question of worship and includes the right especially of minorities to fair access to the employment market and other spheres of civic life.

Before I leave you this morning I would like to acknowledge in a special way the presence among us of His Beatitude Emmanuel III Delly, Patriarch of Baghdad, whom I greet most warmly. His presence brings to mind the people of neighbouring Iraq many of whom have found welcome refuge here in Jordan. (...) I urge diplomats and the international community they represent together with local political and religious leaders to do everything possible to ensure the ancient Christian community of that noble land its fundamental right to peaceful coexistence with their fellow citizens. • @FRAGIORGIO1 No. You are not a Christian, or you would know that Muslims do NOT ADORE ONE GOD, they adore one DEVIL. and you are muslim too in your essence....Jews adore themselves.. you are just a garbage. It is easy for them to rape and kill you - that what you deserve!

  • @10WiseVirgins There is no conversion if I firmly believe in Jesus, but I respect Muslims that adore the One True God and at least revere Jesus as a Prophet of God miraculously born of the Virgin Mary. They are our cousins just as the Jews are for adoring the One True God.

  • @jpmac23 I am afraid that you are too extreme. We can and should respect others, even if we do not agree with them totally. Do you visit homes of people of another political party? Do you avoid non-Catholics? If you do not accept Vatican II, which was presided over by two popes and was attended by some 3,000 bishops of the Universal Church, then how can you say you are a Catholic? Where is the Faith? Do you even know what the documents of Vatican Ii said? Inform yourself and believe.

  • @legalsomali That is a title used for the pope, Your Holiness, since he is a religious leader. Eastern Orthodox patriarchs are "Your Beatitude", kings and queens are "Your Majesty", British dukes are "Your Grace". These are titles from other times that are still used. Judges are still called "Your Honor" in the US.

  • @TheCatholicknights As a Catholilc, I call you to reflect on the vulgar word you use in your comment. Furthermore, young girls were formerly married in the Roman Empire and Mediaeval times and even in the US the age of consent for girls in the 1870 and 1880 varied between 10 and 12. Consider that different cultures have different customs.

  • @NaRuToLeGnD1414 He had on his inner garments, however.

  • @FRAGIORGIO1 Yea...why don't you just convert to Islam to solve all problems?

  • @Grmario85 We say Jesus in English. They say Essa in Arabic. Allah is Arabic for God, the word that Arabic-speaking Christians use as well. Different languages use different words or translations.

  • @10WiseVirgins What are you talking about??? He is pleading for respect for the Christians in Jordan (and the Middle East) as part of Human Rights. There are millions of Christians in the Middle East and they have suffered from many fanatical Arabs in different countries as well as from the Israeli Socialist governments. Try to listen to what he say and find out about the situation of Christians in Syria, Jordan, Iraq. Egypt, Arabia, etc. You can see Eastern Orthodox bishops there also.
