Mamola was, and is, a complete gent. I remember meeting him at the Ally Pally Racing show about 100 years ago. He was completely unasuming, very shy and couldn't believe anybody would recognise him. He was sporting a beard so guess that was the RG500 HB days? He admitted 'playing around' on the Cagiva cos it was so fucking slow and the tyres were shite

I was at siverstone last year it was the wettest round of the season and Randy was hammering round with celeb's on the back on the ducati on handed wave'in at the crowd wi his knee down! Insane!

@tubbymarshall Shame he never got a title, was 2nd 4 times?
He was a real fans favourite, massive commitment and a sportsman all his career.
Was at Donnington that year and he was leaving huge lines and clouds of tyre smoke out of every corner, after a while the crowd copped on and started waving/cheering like mad every time he appeared, which only made the lines longer and the clouds bigger!
