I thought this was a life boat drill not a no smoking, no hair curlers, no coffee bug warmers, no leaving plates on the stairs, no dragging life vests drill. LOL

ok, just a thought. I know this is a drill & everything but if it were an actual emergency, no one in their right mind is going to think "oh gee. I should get to my muster station." umm...no! In a life or death situation, your average person is going to be freaking the hell out and say "screw this! where's my life jacket & the closest life boat?" assuming you don't have much time to get off the boat, yeah....nothing is going to turn out like a measely drill. just saying.

When we had our drill on the carnival ecstasy I miss heard my dad and thought we were going to get in the boats and lower them. I went like what the f!!!

cruise ships are really reliable though. there hasnt been one lost in a long time.

the lady who was doing the life boat drill on the RCCL cruise I was on kept saying, Every one has a space on the life boats, it's not like the Titanic! lol

i loved the carnival triumph cruise the worst part was the lifeboat drill we were in the very back and very closed in but other than that it was nice

Does everybody on the ship participate at once? And how long did the entire drill take?

Yes, everybody at once, but you are assigned to a certain "muster" station - which there are many. The drill takes about 20 minutes and it usually priceless entertainment.
