Sound happens when braking or turning at slow speeds. Other similar sounds im hearing is the front end vibrate if i put the car under decent load and handling isnt as good as I remember it being. Any ideas are much appreciated. Checked out the parts in that area, tie rods seem ok. Some play in the wheel bearing. Does this sound confirm that it might be the bearing? Thanks!

  • Were you able to figure out what the problem with your car was? My 2011 mustang has started to make a sound similar to this when backing up or turning wheel at low speed. The technicians at ford can't seem to figure it out and it's driving me nuts..

  • @amhsf I replaced the wheel bearings, outer tie rods, and ball joints. I THINK it was the tie rods...they were in the worst condition. I used Rockauto.com and got all those parts for cheap. Since your car is so new I dont think youd need to replace all of that but definitely run tests on those 3 parts and watch for play. Again, my guess is that it was the tie rod

  • did you figure it out? i think I have the same problem

  • @gamatoutsikos Not quite. it REALLY sounds like its coming from the caliper actually..still need to do more investigating when i have time

  • Possibly a belt. I had a car that had similar problems. Turns out one belt controlled both the power steering pump and the water pump. I would have weird noises and have vibrations in the steering wheel.

  • @BossRgr I cant see it being a belt. its specifically coming from the wheel areas.

  • Mines doing the same thing i had the front of the car in the air and had the passenger side wheel off I had a friend start the car and turn the steering wheel both ways it sounded just like yours but it sounded like it was coming from the spring. I was talking to a mechanic buddy of mine and he said it was probably the bearing plate on top of the spring. Hope this helps.

  • @geraci89 thank you...will def. take a look at that.

  • If it is a grinding sound it is probably the wheel bearing or the hub assembly. It could also be the transaxle if the vibration is really bad. If the sound is more like a high pitched whine, it would be the power steering pump, or the belt which drives it could just be slightly loose.

  • Well id stop by autozone. They usually can diagnose it for free.
