this is stupid when people try to create names for techniques when they have been called the same thing for centuries.....it's not a flying front kick, it's a jumping front snap kick!!

It's obvious that Steven Seagal traveled back in time and taught Machida this technique.

Seagel did not create any of the technique that Machida and Silva uses, but he do help them to modify some parts of their technique. In this case for example, the kick is executed lifting alot the knee, seagel told machida to not raise that much the knee and trow the kick in a wimp-kind of motion. That way it would be harder to see the kick coming. Theres a video that prove this, seagel even say "we want to make your kicks invicible" or something like that.

Machida mentioned in an interview that Segal just helped him and Anderson tighten up the little bits of the kick, obviously they would know this kick beforehand since it's used in Muay Thai and Karate
