How to Balance Steady Dragon Stabilizer in 2 minutes

Because of the weight of my camera and lens, I had to add additional weight. I added a dumbell collar. If you are using a light lens such as the kit lens then you may not have to add more weight.

@V3gaz0502 I would not recommend it because it would be too much weight for the steady dragon to handle. Contact the seller of the Steady Dragon because he can tell you exactly how much weight it can handle.

i have the balance plate, tried putting it on frontwards, backwards, way up front, way back, 1st hole, 2 hole 3rd hole.. it's been 6+ hours..

@desalvo66 First of all, I hope you didn't buy this expecting it to work right out of the box. All cameras are different and you do have to dedicate some time to get 'any' stabilizer to work. Some guys have bought the Merlin and have spend hours trying to balance it too so don't feel bad. Hard to help you if I don't know what kind of camera you have.

@defnyung i've been trying to get this thing to keep from swinging wildly around for the last three hours.my fuji finepix 2000 camera weighs 530 grams.. i think the balance platethey give u weighs 100 grams.i've tried it with less weight, more weight nothing seems to help, yet it is upright when i use the tripod holder to balance it in the tripod and don't move it.plus it points every which way when i take it in my hands. what am i doing all wrong.. thanks for the quick response though.

@desalvo66 I think you don't have enough weight on top. Try adding weight like I did behind the camera. You can't see it in this video but go to the ebay sellers site and take a look at the two pictures that he has of the T2i with a Bower 14mm wide and the Tamron 17-50mm and notice how I had to add weight on top.

My steps with camera would be: put camera on correction plate then mount on top of the stabilizer, add a little weight to top, then start adding washers at bottom two spots.

@desalvo66 In my case, without the added weight behind the camera my stabilizer would sway heavily to the front and back and a little to the sides. So again, reduce the weight at the bottom and add more to the top.

I had the same issue. There was way to little weight up top. Make sure if your camera is under 600g that you have enough weight up top. I had to remove all the weights and the crossbar from the bottom, then add a bunch of washers up top to make it balance right.
