There are loads of way to add colour to video or correct colour to add atmosphere or create a completely new look. This tutorial uses the effect plugin Gradient Map in Sony Vegas which is an underused fx but quickly allows you to colour or tint all or parts of your video for some amazing results.

  • I'm trying to figure out how to make a preset gradient map that will match the colors exactly as they would normally appear. That is, with full opacity instead of just transparency. The point of what I'm trying to do is to be able to change individual colors WITHOUT chroma keying, but using the Gradient Map effect.

(P.S. I know how to save presets.)

  • I don't have gradient map with sony vegas 11 what can I do to have it ?

  • Hey Rich, if I apply gradient map to two tracks, thesecond layer tends to accumulate and makes the video really dark. How do I make it so that only the final picture is affected by gradient map?? Thanks!

  • Brilliant how you make a very complicated subject easier for everyone to use in such a short time. It's great that you've done your homework and now share it with us in such an easy and fun format. Thanks loads.
