Meanest Kitty Ever!

Actuallly, Gazoo isn't mean, she's just not very loving.

Gazoo was declawed for scratching as a young kitten and since then, she has began to bite. She asks for love and headbutts just like any other cat, but as soon as you reach down to pet her, she attacks.

This is VERY common for declawed cats. Declawing will fix the scratching, but more times than not, it will begin some severe biting.

Please PLEASE reconsider declawing your cats, as the cons FAR outweigh the pros.

I agree declawing is evil, except for the occasional medical need (cats in pain from extra digits sometimes need one claw done.) However, I am sure that with persistence you can retrain your cat.... #1. No rough play with your hands. Fishing line toys instead of hands. #2. The only time your hands approach her, it's slowly and gently with a cat treat, and eventually( a week or two, or more) accompany it with a loving gentle chin tickle/scratches. She won't change unless you do.

she needs to have some toy mice to play with it sounds like this too me. My kitten does the same thing like yours does,so I gave her some toy mice and she don't do this no more try it

Sadly, she's actually a very sweet cat, and has PLENTY of toys, but the biting is a reaction to not having her claws. We're not sure if she learned it from when her feet still hurt or what, but she will almost always bite, toys or not.

It's basically one of the bigger downfalls of declawing.

my father said declawing a cat is like cutting ur fingers down to ur knuckles and i feel horrible to do that a simple trimming of the nails and a scratching post will fix the scratching problem and simple bonding with them like with cat toys plus tell guests that ur cat is not friendly to strangers so they dont get scratched

She bites because that's her personality. I have cats that bite too and they are not declawed. They just don't like to be bothered.

This cat likes human interaction (thus the rubbing her head against objects) but she does not want to be touched - a common personality trait in some cats. These cats can be shown affection by playing with a cat laser toy or teaser of some sort, not by physical touch. So stop continuing to put your hand in her face after she tells you to stop!

I've had three cats in the last 27 years, all female, all declawed at about 9 months. All were indoors only. No behavior problems with any of them . My last one, Frankenstein, is 15 now, she is in very good health . I now understand what declawing is and would not do this to another cat. I would not be against adopting a declawed cat.
