Initially, Spain may not conjure up an image of impressive snow covered mountain peaks catering for one of the world's most exclusive winter sports. However as Europe's second most mountainous country after Switzerland with an average altitude of around 800 metres, (2,500 ft), above sea-level, it is little wonder!.

Sierra Nevada, which means "Snowy Mountain Range", includes some of the highest peaks in Europe not to mention the highest concentration of peaks over 3,000m in the country. The resort of Sierra Nevada offers its visitors a wide range of a ski terrain to suit skiers & boarders of all standards. It has the best snow and the longest season in the country of five months of snow. Sierra Nevada has 61km of ski slopes with 45 pistes and 6 off-piste routes. There are 2 cable cars, 12 chair lifts and 5 ski lifts. The ski resort is open from 9am to 5pm although you can ski at night at weekends and bank holidays. An important factor that very few resorts are able to boast of, is that you are practically guaranteed sunshine throughout your stay!

Sierra Nevada offers top facilities including, Dreamland & the Snow Garden, creche, Ice rink, ski / snowboard / clothing hire, shopping, numerous hotels, restaurants, bars, leisure facilities and plenty of parking. There is a surprisingly active nightlife in the Sierra Nevada. This is a small resort, so you should be able to find out if anything is going on rather quickly. Though the village may be small, the nightlife is charged with that special Spanish spirit that takes advantage of the moment and normally stretches that moment into the wee hours of the morning.
