From the new movie "MOTORCYCLE" written, directed, edited by Paul Gordon. Produced by August Filmproductions It was honored at the SUNDANCE FILM FESTIVAL and here is what VARIETY had to say about it at the link below.

Motorcycle Mama was written by John D. Wyker for his band Sailcat and reached #12 on Billboard in the Summer of 1972 (see our other videos here for the footage).

SAILCAT's music appears 3 times in "MOTORCYCLE" and we are proud to be associated with Paul Gordon's fine production.

  • Love this song by sailcat, got it in my record collection. It's a smoothy and has a positive message and the gal in this video looks great on that bike. It's certainly #1 on my charts but the music industry probably thought otherwise? It dosen't cease to amaze me how some of the best songs containing positive thinking and words of love & togetherness never make the top spot. This being another example of a song that wasn't given the credit it deserved. Thanks for posting this classic!

  • Oh sure, the rest of the album had even better tunes on it. But #12 on Billboard's nothing to sneeze at, lol.

  • They played this as a closing tune on an NPR show yesterday. Love it!

  • Fcuk I dig this song. I t was a hit here in 1972. Love the lyrics, the beat and the movie Easy Ryder, where I took a whole new perspective to Motorcyles, hogs or hondas. My favorite from that year is a real toss up, but don't be surprised if this song was to top all other including Cat Stevens & The Stylistics with their hit "Betcha By Golly Wow". .

  • Dat's a CB750 allright...or am I just too drunk an that's a 500..? Who cares I'm a HD man... ha ha ha.. and drunk to boot!!! Cheerio suckers, and happy holidays!

  • 2tires is correct. Looks like an early 80's 4-piper. A CB750 perhaps......
