Gobbi was the most artistic Italian baritone of the post-war period. But Bechi was the most exciting one--and the favorite baritone of Franco Corelli.--Stefan Zucker

Sounds quite odd in Italian... I kind of like it better in French, however it it were any other language (German, English) it would be even worse!

@ashleybremner- I totally agree with you on that. I take voice lessons and I've had teachers steering me away from THIS natural sound, but I never could give into it. I now have a teacher wanting me to sound like this and he is the best teacher I've had.

Cheers mate. I find it strange that you don't hear these kind of voices anymore. they all sound so unatural now, overtrained, safe, unexiting. Why is this? I would much rather listen to the likes of these old masters than the kind of singers we hear today. Do you think it is a sad reflection of the times we live in, instant results! Greed for fame perhaps, or maybe style? Any ideas.
