  • you where gonna try and plant wheat on corn?

  • @stan420ok

We normally plant wheat after corn, the residual N left from beans is better used by corn than wheat. However this field was planted into soybeans.

  • @Farmerknowsbest If you plant wheat into corn, how substantial are your losses from fusarium?

  • @Underwood6 Wheat is basically a dead crop in this area. Fusarium is an issue no matter the rotation. It is no worse or better after beans or corn. It is to the point you have to spray 2 fungicide applications at heading and harvest at 25+% moisture to get milling grade. I'd say less than 2% of the acres in this county will be cereals this year.

  • we just bought one of these machines and we opted to build it our selves there is one pile of bolts and is it ever heavy our 100hp tractor wouldent lift it off the truck

  • @cormus1 ok, thanks, ya we no till soys into corn stalks... but with all the new corn hybrids, theres so much stalk and trash left, thanks for reply

  • I used a salford drill this fall to sow winter wheat, sowed into a hay field that had been sprayed out with glyphosate and a broadleaf chemical. And then sowed the wheat into the grass, didn't bother to break it up. Speeds of 7.5 MPH and consistant depth and good penetration and a smooth finish.

  • @farmer4life16 this machine it used for residue chopping and vertical tillage,,,i used one this spring really does a nice job,,,we no-till and have been for yrs and I am trying new technologies to help chop residue and help the health of the soil without standard tillage.

  • @Farmerknowsbest , oh so this is a old vid from the spring?

  • haulin ass!!
