I used a salford drill this fall to sow winter wheat, sowed into a hay field that had been sprayed out with glyphosate and a broadleaf chemical. And then sowed the wheat into the grass, didn't bother to break it up. Speeds of 7.5 MPH and consistant depth and good penetration and a smooth finish.

@stan420ok
We normally plant wheat after corn, the residual N left from beans is better used by corn than wheat. However this field was planted into soybeans.

@Farmerknowsbest If you plant wheat into corn, how substantial are your losses from fusarium?

@Underwood6 Wheat is basically a dead crop in this area. Fusarium is an issue no matter the rotation. It is no worse or better after beans or corn. It is to the point you have to spray 2 fungicide applications at heading and harvest at 25+% moisture to get milling grade. I'd say less than 2% of the acres in this county will be cereals this year.
