@CrimsonChampions The Constitution originally intended "Free Assembly" to take place in public establishments. In the mid 19th Century however laws made it so that free assembly couldn't take place in public establishment. And by the way, we do have Constitutional Law classes here at the University of Tennessee Knoxville.
@ecs4dvols33 I don't think so, he's supposed to serve and protect people and if he let an angry mob get close to Lane it would have put Lane and many other people in great danger. It's his job to try to keep that from happening. He told them it wasn't illegal, but just asked that they please step out so everyone would be safe. He did his job and did it politely and respectfully. Those kids burnt their beds in the streets, if they got close to lane it could have been big trouble.
It is a state building. By law the students have to be outside of the building not inside. First Amendment does not allow protesters or mobs inside private or state controlled establishments. You come on my property and I will shoot your ass. In Texas son we have the Castle Law. The idiot students have to move it outside. Tenn must not have CONSTITUTIONAL LAW classes. You can NOT protest or gather inside of. Know the law before posting. Good Lord. Free assembly on the streets.
