i think you guys took it a little to fast for the sake of the groove. It's supposed to sit back and swing, not trip over it's groove.

the beginning is so connected... when our high school jazz band played it, it sounded reallly different-- bite-y. i like it that way better.

Cool...but I feel like you didn't capture the groove that Thad Jones wanted on the piece in my opinion. If I could retitle this song, it'd Easy Dipper; this doesn't have that groove. Still, nice job, especially on those tricky chord changes on the solos, and that E by the trumpets was killer!

I cant blame the kids because they just don't know any better, but for the band director, the fact that you acually own some sort of a bachelors degree in music shocks me. Band director has no clue how to teach this tune properly. As soon as the rhythm came in with the trombone sycopation, the tempo raced about 20bpm. Intonation, HORRIBLE. This isn't even close to an outstanding, let alone a superior
