One of the southern ground hornbills is strutting and tooting. This only happens once or twice a day, so I am always glad when I happen to be at the exhibit at the right time.

What a great, all-natural, sound! (Have I mentioned that I hate artificial piped-in sounds in zoos?)

  • Great video ! I saw one do this in Boston. You have to be there to understand how bizarre that sounds. You just can't tell where it is coming from.

  • I haven't seen one of these in years! I've always thought that the blue on their throats was beautiful.
