That man in the suit & tie that runs alongside Mazeroski on his right from 3rd base to home plate is my grandpa!
-
by the way, only game in world series history for a walk off home run in a game 7

0:05 ugh, right to the throat.

WHO cares if they ever win again? THIS was a ball-buster that N.Y. will NEVER forget! Luv the Cubbies, Hell No, Love the "never again" Pirates!

Wow! Just found out today that Bing Crosby(part owner of the Pirates 1946-1977), had the ENTIRE GAME recorded by kinescope! MLB network will be airing it soon! They found 5 reels of film in Crosby's wine cellar in San Francisco. Cool and dry conditions are said to have kept the films in pristine condition! Awesome...

I remember the one in 1979. That was good too.
-
@megan92986 that is very cool!
-
Carter's was in a Game 6; Maz's Walkoff was the only one ever in a Game 7 World Series!
-
@grkent And Maz should have been the MVP of the series, NOT Richardson. 12 hits in a losing cause doesn't make you an MVP, imo.
-
@CoreyD1086 You are correct BUT that was Game 6.

The Pirates won the first game 6-4 -- the difference in the game was a home run by Bill Mazeroski... this fact always seems to get lost.
Didn't know that. Cool blip of information. Remarkable series, for sure.

Glad you liked it. We're putting up an entire Video Almanac of the 20th Century sliced into sports, arts and entertainment, wars and disasters, and some other topics.
Grateful for your kind words.
