Not a bad sounding gain pedal. The clean in the beginning was darn good though. Here's a tip for you guys looking for pedals. Gain pedals are VERY amp specific. Meaning, a pedal that sounds GREAT on one amp can absolutely suck on another. Don't put 100% trust in a YT demo of any amp or pedal or even guitar. Your guitar, your pedals, your amp, you hand tone, all will play a huge role in how it actually sounds when you plug it in.

@skatterpro what a stupid question... the same of asking if water is wet ¬¬
-
@skatterpro then buy the digitech death metal or metal master for death metal
-
@skatterpro you are kidding me that works for everything
-
I liked the amt ss30 heavy sound much more than the blackstars
-
Sounds like its suited for Judas Priest type music

I have the ht dual. This is also intresing, but all demos i've heard of this have it sound quite one-dimensional for my ear. Something is lacking from ht blackfire's tone

@VonCarnstein aahah i know what you mean, that's the same for me..heavy means HEAVY! Yu can't go wrong with that man!

@taxo Nice, thanks for the info I'll give it a shot. I guess maybe my definition of "heavy metal" is actually "extreme metal" to most people and so I had the wrong expectations for the distx haha.
Would it work for death metal..?

This pedal is much heavier than the Dual. I believe the higher gain channel 2 on the Dual may be comparable to channel 1 on the Blackfire (but still less gain). I have one of these beasts hooked up to a Blackstar amp and it is a fantastic pedal with unbelievable sustain and harmonics. A video clip can't do it justice.....highly recommended.
