  • Hi Anuja and Hetal,

Recently I tried the Suji Halwa but it was quite Orange or close to red in color. Is that because they use coloring or if there is some other recipe for it ?

    But your recipe is wonderful.

    Thanks,

    Dipankar

  • @dbiswas : Most times, commercially, they do add color to Suji Halwa to make it look more appealing and attractive :)

  • Hi Anuja and Hetal,

My family likes the sheera to be of a drier, crumbly, upma-like consistency. I was able to make it like that once. However, more often than not, my sheera is soft and halwa-like. Any suggestions, tips, advice would be highly appreciated! Keep up the awesome work! Thanks in advance.

If everything else is okay, you may just want to reduce the amount of liquid by a bit. Also, roasting the sooji properly helps each of the grains to be separate.

  • this is not how i remember it... i thought Sooji or Suji was supposed to be thick & fluffy, almost like couscous. Any thoughts?

  • @PhantomAct

Sooji is available in many different textures. Maybe you had one that was very coarse but halwa is not as grainy as couscous.

  • @ShowMeTheCurry Thanks. I bought fine semolina and used ratio: "1 cup of Semolina" to "3 cups of liquid." In my case the liquid was semi-skimmed milk. The result came out great - fluffy pudding - even though i felt a pain in my chest, haha. I guess what happened is that the video camera made it look like a sticky sauce, so i got a bit worried :-)

  • i will try it this sunday, my sister had explained it to me on phone how to make it, but its always better to watch videos because you always end up learning a thing or two, like they said you have to keep moving the suji in pan otherwise it will burn. i have to goto grocery store to get sugar and ghee, i will buy brown sugar from trader joe's that very good and healthy

  • @hijklmnop36

you can add condensed milk , but you should omit some of the sugar then.
