these days its oh if i havent got my shimano bait runner i cannot possiblt catch a fish....what do you think they used before ball bearing reels??? an old spindle reel and cane rod....feel the real power of the fish breaking your arm not pussy foot around with a test curve...! snobbery not angling! MR Yates a legend...we could all learn from..!

yes there is, a hell of alot but theres also alot to be learnt from future inventions like Hair rigs, tubing, lead core and so on. I think the key is to find a balance between using old and new together because all of one or all of the other isnt as effective. Using all old tactics wouldnt work, using all new doesnt always work, i balance using new age tactics and whats called as you say old fashioned and it works a treat :o)
