I am a 4b-4c, my hair hates ECO gel unrefined shea butter forms a coil pattern for me. Try using henna for the change of color, it is packed with nutrients for your hair its no toxic at all and the color vary. You can apply it yourself it can get pretty messy but there are plenty of videos on it. I go to a website called curl mart it has really good products for all hair types I hope this helped.

@memunskers are you referring to the raw unrefined shea butter? i tried to google it and there are two different kinds. where can i buy these products? also the henna hair dye.
