I'm impressed with Barack Obama and I hope he wins. Not that my opinion means anything of course ... I don't even understand the system for a start.
Anyway, I enjoy his videos and I recommend them for studying.

(I'm not sure that I got the Jesse Jackson thing either - was it that a lot of people don't like Jesse Jackson and Clinton wants them to think the same way about Obama?)

This is the video I'm talking about:

  • Regarding Obama's use of "folks".

The term "people" was once a euphemism for "Black People". Whites might say "Black People", which evolved into "Those People" or "Some People". For some bizarre reason, African Americans latched onto "people". So "folks", which was once hillbilly slang, is used as a polite term to indicated one doesn't mean any certain type of "people".

  • Wow, that's interesting. I didn't know that.

  • The whole Bill mentioning Jesse Jackson thing was about two things:

    1. Implying that Obama only won a state where the majority of Democrats are black because he was black (as was the case with Mr. Jackson); absurd considering he won Maine and Iowa, as well as several other places with nearly no black people. Someone should tell Bill the year is 2008, not 1988.

    2. Jesse Jackson is a bit of a jerk. He was around MLK a few times before MLK died, and he used that fact to launch his political career.

  • Ahhh, thank you for explaining that.

  • Hillary speech today in manassas virginia was awesome even though i dont like her she pwnt obama today.

Were electing some one to fix this mess not some to pander the word change someone to actually do it.

  • I'm happy to meet someone who appreciates language.

One of my "callings" seems to be to study communication and to help with the process. Lately, it seems to be a futile effort. I wish you all the best.

Hillary is great at pwning Obama, isn't she. She spends all her time doing it. She's not good at convincing people though, cause her "pwnage" backfired quite a bit in the Feb primaries. She's also not so good at getting stuff done. She totally failed health care reform in the 90's. She's good at pandering to the Washington establishment though (Iraq vote, etc). I give you that.

  • And on top of this he has never presented a plan for an Iraq withdrawal. He is the only candidate who I think would pull out without any regards for the consequences in Iraq and the region. His views on foreign policy are not realistic and based on isolationism. He wants to withdraw from the WTO, Nafta, and the UN, blaming the UN for the US involvement in the Iraq war which is ludicrous. So no, Ron Paul is not a nice guy at all.

  • Ron Paul opposes the civil rights act (which outlaws racial discrimination), rejects evolution, opposes gay marriage, thinks life begins with conception, tried to outlaw abortion through Congress, wants to reintroduce the monetary system which led to the Great Depression of the 1930's, wants to abolish the income tax leading to a $1.2 trillion deficit based on his "financing" (Iraq withdrawal) alone, wants to destroy any powers of the Union and strengthen the states, ...

  • Edwards should spend more time with his wife? What? Why? As for Ron Paul watch?v=VKQ14BHdiTU and check the articles/links. He is a secessionist nut and his internet spam campaign was organized by his Neo Nazi buddies from stormfrontDOTorg and vnnforumDOTorg among others. (Go check!) His policies are ludicrous and aimed at destroying the American Union. That's his only consistency. His outrageous statements are too numerous to list here.

  • Thats a shame all the nz arnt as cute as you.

If all american men are like me this would one big mental institution and chaos would reign supreme.0
