We are just spending money in the wrong places: foreign wars, government salaries, ear marks, etc. Our schools are failing, people in our country are going to bed hungry, seniors can't afford medication, citizens go without health care, people need jobs. Our priorities are all screwed up! Cuts in unnecessary spending are needed so we can balance budgets,( Including your salary.) Obama has inherited most of this debt- Bush built it up for 8 years and I doubt we can undue it in 4 years.

Get out of Afghanistan. Tell congress to quit giving themselves pay raises each year. Dump the earmarks. Congress could do more right now than it is doing.

You are absolutely correct. Beyond that we need to absorb the pain and make an across the board 10% cut in ALL programs. We all will suffer some but less than if we continue down this path.

Right on Vern! Why is this concept so difficult for Congress to embrace? Generations to come will ask why were you people so selfish? It just breaks my heart to see what supposedly "honorable" people will do to preserve their power and riches.
