@kilymat Panasonic has a 14-45mm zoom lens, but it is a pretty puny zoom. If your focus is on zoom over speed or quality, I would say get a 200mm or higher lens

@Shreeb oh awesome. i was there last year. anyway! i'm thinking of buying the GF1. does it make a difference whether i buy the 20mm or the 14-45?
do you think GF1 is better than canon G11? which is what ill be replacing if i purchase the GF1.
decisions, decisions.

@ohbea Maryland! Lots of woodland and pretty trails around.

where do you live shreeb? this place looks gorgeous

the videos good but you can really see the difference editing can make once you watch the two side by side. um, not sure if you do request but could you take a few photo samples. i'm interested in getting this camera but have no clue at the photo quality. I'm in a dilemma...get a lighter camera like lumux or a bulky camera like canon but which is reliable and popular...

I posted my first vid I shot using my new GF1, and I have to say I am very happy with it. Shreeb2 sample video sealed the deal w. me Check it out... TucsonCPA video called I. Twins
I shot it In AVCHD Light and edited in Vegas 9.0. No shadows, no glitches. The sampling was grainy but it rendered nicely.

ohok i might switch then.
How are the file sizes compared to AVCHD? I heard AVCHD has smaller file sizes

I shoot in Motion Jpeg and edit in either Adobe After Effects or Premiere Pro. I'm not quite sure what the shadowing error in your videos is from. Never seen anything like that before!
-
what video editing software are you using for this? I've got a GF1 and am editing it using Sony Vegas but i get a really bad glitching/shadowing problem (see my channel for a sample of it)
btw your vids are awesome!
I am about to jump on this camera but just realized that the 20mm cannot zoom.
Is there any compact lens out there that allow zooming by hand on the GF1 ?

Yes, it's a prime lens. Try using one- I think you'll realize just how flexible a fixed focal length is. Not to mention the wide 1.7 aperture that makes depth of field and low light photography a breeze, and the compactness of the whole package.
Basically- don't write off the usefulness of a fast prime before using one. I did for the longest time and wish I hadn't wait so long to get one!
Oly's 14-42mm is the smallest zoom on m4/3 right now, but has no OIS, so it's better fitted to the EP-1.
