  • Why would you move the bridge on the back farther? How would any extra string length behing the wooden bridge make any difference?

  • When you use double bass strings you need to allow some room for the winding at the end of the string going through the body. Otherwise you cut off a lot of the winding etc. The Ergo doesn't have the string length like a regular double bass to allow for the windings.

  • Thanks for your note. You need to shim the bridge up a little bit at a time. You can also move the piezo elements around to balance the sound. It's a trial and error thing but it worked out for me just fine. Jesse makes good pickups.

  • Gotcha, didn't take that into account. Makes sense, and it's quite clever.

  • Was it hard to get the sound even again? I have an Ergo instrument and I consider raising the string height a bit. And was planning on doing it the way you did, but I have not dared to try in fear of ruining the sound.
