Gotcha, didn't take that into account. Makes sense, and it's quite clever.

Was it hard to get the sound even again? I have an Ergo instrument and I consider raising the string height a bit. And was planning on doing it the way you did, but I have not dared to try in fear of ruining the sound.

Why would you move the bridge on the back farther? How would any extra string length behing the wooden bridge make any difference?

When you use double bass strings you need to allow some room for the winding at the end of the string going through the body. Otherwise you cut off a lot of the winding etc. The Ergo doesn't have the string length like a regular double bass to allow for the windings.

Thanks for your note. You need to shim the bridge up a little bit at a time. You can also move the piezo elements around to balance the sound. It's a trial and error thing but it worked out for me just fine. Jesse makes good pickups.
