I agree that the performance is good...but anyone with a significant understanding of performance enhancing substances will know why. Please if you dont have such experience ...don't come the "Neil would never take drugs" crap.

How can anyone NOT enjoy Neil Diamond and Hot August Night? Great Performance!

I just watched the 1977 TV special "I'm Glad You're Here With Me Tonight" and you can see a few very brief clips from this performance. And I do mean brief, it's probably 2-3 seconds total, but I thought it was interesting.

At 2:59, watch a girl in the audience slip a key into Neil's hand. He takes it and puts it in his pocket.

Increadibly great version indeed. Many thanks for posting!!!
Probably the single most powerful performance ever by any rock performer. He doesn't just sing about Brother Love--He BECOMES Brother Love, and takes the audience right along with him. There has never been anyone like him before, and there will never be anyone like him again. Absolutely the greatest.

This is Neil in his absolute prime. You can see the confidence ooze out of him when he steps on stage. He's got the audience in the palm of his hands and he knows it. The thing about Neil is that he still delivers the performance with every ounce of his soul.
