The National Foundation for Celiac Awareness (NFCA) raised funds for celiac disease research and awareness efforts at its 5th annual 'Appetite for Awareness' event held at the Wachovia Center in Philadelphia, PA. 1500 people attended, making 'Appetite for Awareness' the largest fundraiser the NFCA has held to date. 35 chefs representing area restaurants participated and received training in gluten-free cooking and kitchen protocols, helping to make Philadelphia the first gluten-free celiac friendly neighborhood in the US!

  • I always hear you guys saying, that celiac is so well known in Europe. I'm from Germany and I have celiac. But there is nothing like celiac awareness here as far as I know. We have a sort of association for celiac, but they mostly keep to themselves and don't "spread the word" like you do. I even read a German doctor denying Mayo Clinics' study findings, saying that celiac wasn't as common as they say and that there was "no need to panic".
