This is hardly a fair comparison since the Windows 7 installation has been in use for several years, but it provides an idea of the improvements made with Windows 8.

@08breakerz08 you are right, but I am making another fairer video with fresh installs and a newer computer and Windows 8 is still much faster to the punch.
Not bad for such an old machine but it probably outlast anything on the market now. As for windows 8 I am going to pass it up. Prefer older style os such as xp or vista but win7 has a few issues.
@1John2v27 I find it curious you mention Vista. Windows 7 basically fixed everything that was broken in Vista. I'm compiling another boot video with Vista in it and 7 and 8 wipe the floor with Vista. Windows 7 does have issues, sure, but I find it much better compared to Vista. XP is more of a matter of preference and nostalgia.
