Generations Challenge - Sonic Heroes Part 1

Part seven of an ongoing challenge while waiting for the release of Sonic Generations. I'll be playing through every Sonic game that's known to be represented in Sonic Generations as well as maybe a few more. Schedule goes as followed, with one week to complete the Genesis era games and two weeks to complete everything else.

I know I've been super harsh on this game and that a ton of people seem to like it, but nobody's really given me a reason as to why. I'll totally admit that I might be missing something to this game that makes it loads better or something. Do I have to not think of it as a Sonic game or something? What do you guys all see in Heroes that I don't, because I'm honestly curious. Lemme know and maybe I'll try another team in a new light.

But seriously, I'll level with you. It's a decent game. However, it makes a terrible Sonic game. If it was a bunch of other characters I have the feeling I wouldn't mind as much. It's kinda like what I think about Super Mario Sunshine. Decent game, terrible Mario game.

God you're really annoying to listen to like why would you do this if you were gonna complain this damn much?.... I mean there were parts where I'm like yea awesome dialogue this is cool then you'd totally ruin the moment with guess what? MORE COMPLAINING! Yay...

@Mylesperhour23 I don't hate this game for the sole reason that the levels are long. Hell, some levels in Sonic and Knuckles can take around 6 - 7 minutes. I don't like them because they literally copy and paste areas of the level over and over. It's lazy level design. Combine that with terrible controls, ugly player models and frustrating gameplay and it's easily my least favorite Sonic game. It's a shame since the idea was so good. I honestly wouldn't oppose a Sonic Heroes 2 with some polish.

Too bad about the final story. I thought for sure you'd be doing it for this game too, but I can sure understand your reasons for why you can't. I've never actually played this game in full before (only a PC demo from Sega's website) so I'm kind of ignorant on how difficult this game must be.

@A113Pixar It's not even so much difficult as it is frustrating. I'm really not a fan of any level past the first couple, the stages are far too long, the controls are awkward and clumsy, and in the case of Team Chaotix, just about every level is turned into a fetch quest. Maybe I'll come back to it after the challenge, but for now I have better games to move on to. And also Sonic 2006.
