It is great to be returning to Seaside and the Monterey Peninsula. This is the first race start in this storied location since 2008. We will take the same route down Hwy 1 through Monterey, Carmel, Pacific Grove and Big Sur.
Sorry to see this stage not realized. I have ridden this route many times and can attest to the reality that the combination of Santa Rosa Creek Road and Peachy Canyon Road both with some steep climbs and narrow, curvaceous downhills all within 40 miles of the finish would have led to some very exciting possibilities.
Unfortunately they're missing Big Sur, but what they get instead will be pretty damn sweet...a huge climb up interlake road to a peak that will show Lake Nacimiento on one side of the road and Lake San Antonio on the other side.
Unfortunately this road is dangerous not only for its turns and hills, but for the billions of squirrels crossing the road all the time. They love to dart across the road at the worst possible time.
Looking forward to the event. My name is Adam Alvarez I'm a Realtor and if you are visiting Paso Robles for this event and would like any information on properties for sale come by my office and enjoy a free BBQ and drinks! 2000 Spring Street, Paso Robles. See you Thursday!
This is not the route because landslides along the coastal highway. it will be inland. there are some hard climbs on the reroute. it will only be 135 miles.
