Hey guys, finally popped the rear top section off the rear buck hatch thingy... It went pretty smoothly and had no major issues. Next I need to trim the excess fiberglass off and sand it a little. Stay tuned for more...

  • did you just use metal tape as a base to apply the release agent ?

  • @flatonthefloor89 Yes i did on this. Its a type of AV Aluminum tape. It works well for something like this.

  • Working on videos now, should have another or two up this weekend.

  • mate i am thinking about making my own sports car and i was wondering what do you build first the chassis and put in the engine and stuff on or the fiber glass body please send a message back to me.

  • @TacticalFinder Yeah i would setup and layout your chassis and drive train first. It really helps when designing the car. I like to design from the inside out.

  • i do not understand why are you using that tape/aluminium foil and not use a proper film-forming solution like wax or polivinilic alcohol or both directly on the body ... i think u did a great job but the part of using that tape/aluminium foil for the film is not a good ideea because you can't stretch it proper it leaves marks on the mold

  • @whynot2d Yeah you are absolutely right... I should not use the tape if i was making a mold. Although I am making a mold of sorts, its not in the way you are thinking. The shell is going to be used as a primary structure to build up on to finish off the design. Then I will make a proper mold like you stated in your comment. Stay tuned for my next videos as it will more more sense later on.

  • I am really liking the idea of the tape with the mold release! Not sure of cost wise, but it is a good "in a pinch idea" and it seems to work well for your locate pins

  • where is the next video?

  • i like to buy one but don't have that kind of money but if you give me one i will promote it for you and get you customers

  • hey Neal, you know what makes it even easier to remove fiberglass off the mold? way from a "Hemp & soy massage candle" dude I dont have any release agent, so I used this for a small box I made, and it works better than anything else I've tried, I will make a video with my next project so you can see. so it reduces the chances of cracking the fiberglass!

  • One of the best feeling releasing a mold, nothing like hearing that cracking release sound running over it

  • did you use cartons,?what is the best material to use to build fairings?i'm in a tight budget, last christmas i made one,but i failed
