HOW TO USE TWITTER EFFECTIVELY - THE BASICS

Hi, my name is Casey S. McClure and I do Internet Marketing.

This is the first in a series of videos about Social Media Marketing called, "How to Use Twitter Effectively -- The Basics."

Now you don't have to be a Marketer to use the information I'm going to give you. It applies to anyone using Twitter, for any reason. I'm going to share with you three simple, basic principles that I use every day.




THREE BASIC PRINCIPLES FOR TWEETING




BE CONCISE AND USE STRONG KEYWORDS

Number one, in your message, Be Concise and use strong Keywords. Remember that people are not reading Twitter, they're scanning to find something useful - something that is relevant to their interests. It's like looking for a bread crumb trail that leads to information that they want. So, keep it short and choose your Keywords carefully.

ALWAYS PROVIDE A LINK

Number two, always provide useful content in the form of a shortened link or URL. That could be a link to a website, a blog post, a video, or a picture, - it doesn't really matter. But you want to make sure that you are providing something useful to your followers. If they are interested in your keywords, then give them something to click.

USE HASHTAGS

And Number three, use hashtags so that your tweets will be searchable and included in larger conversations. If you're unsure of which ones to use, visit hashtags.org and do some research.

LET'S SEE AN EXAMPLE
Now here's an example. You can see I've written a tweet with three parts, the message (concise with strong Keywords), a link to more content, and some hashtags. They don't necessarily have to be in that order, but I'd recommend it -- you want your most "readable" information up at the beginning of the tweet.
