The The VTP-100 is a high quality affordable class A tube microphone preamplifier, supplied as a half rack unit or in pairs for rack mounting (2U)Features include Mic, line and instrument (DI) inputs, switchable 48v phantom power, variable hi pass (lo cut) filter, large level VU meter, LED overload indicators, phase reverse and 20dB pad. The preamp delivers up to 60dB of gain, sufficient for most microphones including the most sensitive ribbons. A high quality headphone amplifier is included at the rear of the unit. The result is an exceptional microphone preamplifier that delivers a huge (+32dBu) dynamic range with a flat frequency response and extremely low noise, making the VTP-100 the perfect preamp for the most demanding applications including as live recordings of classic music. Discrete input and transformerless output stages provide superior sound performance compared with most other commercially available transformer balanced mic preamps.
All the commutation functions are carried out through internal relays, any type of FET, VCA or CMOS are employed, this allows it to maintain, at any given moment, a surprising dynamic range,low distortion, scarce phase deviation and improves linearity across the full frequency range.
The use of Class A vacuum tube parallel topology with high grade components creates a preamplifier that surpasses the performance and specification of many of the most expensive and best known preamps and console front-ends available. The use of relay switching maintains an excellent dynamic range and the lack of audio transformers in the audio path results in extremely low distortion and phase deviation. All components are selected by hand for quality and reliability
