Three-week-old Andalusion/TB colt Venidero's Dior is benefiting from a natural start to horse training thanks to the principles of Parelli Natural Horsemanship. In this video, Parelli student Anne Favre and Dior's mom, April, help Dior build confidence and curiosity. With such great experiences as a foal, Dior's future training will be set up for success!

Hi Maaike - I read your comment asking what Parelli is.

The Parelli approach is not to train horses, but to teach each horse owner to become his or her own horse trainer, and to succeed by building a relationship of trust with each horse. Of course, horsemanship skills are taught in the Parelli program, but the foundation of the method is built on the relationship as primary, with the principles of Love, Language and Leadership as guides.

    Hope this helps!

  • Aww! So cute! He really likes that ball! He's like "MOMMY MOMMY!! Look at what u cab do!!"

  • good, the music too..django reprise!

  • This is so much better than the technique of scaring the crap out of your horse to desensitize them to things. Let them go check it out on their own terms, don't force it on them.

  • 1:15 ''wheeeee'' 1:18 ''hooooomygawd momma its commin back...''

  • @SchliechRme I don't know where you heard this but it isn't true... at all. It might be a cautionary thing, like when they tell you not to start riding a horse until they are three, but against the law? No. And foal follow their moms and watch everything they do so this is an awesome way to bomb proof the little ones. :)

  • fantastic video!! soo darned cute!

  • @breyerhorsecrazy64 I think the law is mainly in Europe. But rule of thumb allow time for the mare and foal and for safety. Main thing treat each case as an individual.

Here is the law anyways:The Riding Establishments Act makes it illegal to use a mare for hire or reward (ie, to work in a licensed riding establishment) until the foal is three months old.

I take it is mainly not to use the mare for work for money.

  • what a lovely foal ^^,

  • AWWWWWW :)

  • sweet
