It's actually the Italian tango (composed by great Bixio, Lyrics by Robert Marino, who was also Italian - making his career in Paris the same way as Tino Rossi, Rina Ketty etc. - young artists from Italy, who couldn't bear the fascist regime in their homeland).

In France this tango was first sung (as far as I know) by Berthe Sylva, whose great interpretation also can be found here.

  • Young people have discovered their parents music from 60s & 70s,

I wonder if they can discover their grandparents music from 30s & 40s ?

After all, they collect antiques from that era !

  • You have great taste! My compliments!

  • i love the vintage photographs...they are quite romantic

  • Thank you 240252 for sharing the recording and comments. He sounds gutturally like Joseph Schmidt... That aside, you say that in '35 the Italian 'Non-Conformistoes' came to Paris like Tino Rossi... I love Rossi , but there is the suggestion that he inclined too closely to the Vichy cabal... Any ideas on that???

  • I do agree.

  • Yes, we are still enjoying the music but in a way it makes things worse because otherwise we wouldn't know what we've missed. Its so sad to read about the fate of so many of these great European performers.

  • I thought that it was Rossi singing. I saved your exquisite Pearlfischers-Romance de Nadir to my favorites a while ago.

The fun has not ended, you are still enjoying the music and sharing it with others for which I must be forever grateful. :) Thank you.
