Washington-based group The Senators recorded 'Wedding Bells' and 'I Shouldn't Care' (the soulful flipside) for the obscure Winn label around 1964. The label also released a fine record by The Gales ('I Love You') which is equally raw and emotionally charged.

  • the piano is supposed to simulate wedding bells

  • The piano works for me.

  • Sounds kinda dated for '64. They have a 58-60 sound IMO.

  • The flip ('I Shouldn't Care) which someone else has uploaded on YouTube does sound '64 but it's just as raw. Thanks for your comments on my channel.

  • The piano adds to the charm of it for me, but I see where you are all coming from.

  • Thank you so much for posting! This is an awesome song!

  • Nice one there! I had not heard it before and it was certainly a pleasant discovery. Thank you very much.

  • i don't see the piano as wedding bells at all, it's more just part of an accent to the melody. any knowledgeable producer would not have substituted a piano for the real thing wedding bells thanks soooooooo much for this real nice posting tom d

  • LITTLE WALTER DEVENNE 1968-1969

  • At first the piano seems out of kilter, but after listening repeatedly, the piano fits as wedding chimes and does add to the raw quality of this gem.

  • Piano is a great touch! Ive never heard anything like this!
