Trike Pilot Project, North Africa, 2009

HWI has designed, built and produced hand-pedaled three-wheelers, affectionately called trikes. The trike is for those disabled by illness, war, landmines or other birth anomalies in the two-third world countries. The trike will offer a form of dignified mobility and an opportunity to earn a living. This is our trike pilot project. Our goal is to assist nationals in setting up small factories so the abled and disabled can build the trikes in their own country. HWI seeks to facilitate this trike process by providing plans, part sources, manufacturing fixtures and information concerning an efficient assembly process as well as the tooling required. Presently, HWI trikes are on five continents.
