This chaotic pendulum is on exhibit at the Exploratorium. Although it is easy to write equations which describe its motion, these equations show the motion is unstable to small perturbations. It is practically impossible to say what position the pendulum will be in just a few seconds from now.

  • Someone let him out!

  • @AndyGoRAWR No

  • @AndyGoRAWR no, perpetual motion isn't physically possible. there will always be friction in any system in real life and so energy would be lost

  • that was so anti-funny it pisses me off '_'

  • DOES IT STOP OR NO?

  • My watch has a kinetic circular thing in it that when it moves, it charges the watch, if that was attached near the joints of the arms, I would think that's gonna generate more energy than it would take to just pull the pendulum back up with a string to start spinning again. Can that be perpetual motion?

  • How long does it keep going?

  • consumers doesn't get the mystery of physics ...

  • i love the part where it gave the guy the middle finger
